Connecting to Our Environment
As part of our inquiry process, we highlighted the importance of place-based learning for our students and staff. When we engaged with the land, we solicited the help of locally developed aboriginal knowledge and resources (local aboriginal history, inter-generational experience, story, and ecology). Some resources we worked with were: FNESC's pilot Science Curriculum, UBC Farm's Indigenous Health Research and Education Garden, the Wilderness Living Project and indigenous ethnobotanist's Nancy Turner's resources.
